Mini Vacation...

Me, Mom, and Lyndi and all the kids were planning to go to visit my Aunt Bev and Uncle Dave in Georgia June 15th and stay for about 4 days.  Sidenote:  Addison is NOT a good car rider and the trip takes about 8 hours.  Lyndi’s kids aren’t wonderful in the car either.  As the trip got closer and closer, we dreaded it more and more (only because of the car ride)!  Listening to whining and crying for 8 hours on the way there and 8 hours on the way back just did not sound like a relaxing way to spend some much-needed time off from work.  Lyndi and Mom agreed so we decided to make different plans and take a much shorter trip instead!
We decided to spend 2 days and 1 night in Cincinnati which is only an hour and a half drive which is much more doable with 3 little ones!  We also took Morgan and Dalton, Craig’s niece and nephew.
We left on Wednesday morning and got into Cincinnati at around 10:30 AM.  The weather wasn’t good (of course) and so we decided to eat breakfast at Waffle House while we tried to figure out a plan for the rainy day.  We decided to go to the mall and allow some time for the rain to clear up in hopes of hitting a waterpark later in the day.

The rain was persistent and despite the fact that it was mid-June, the temperature only reached the upper 60s that day.  Luckily we saw a billboard for an indoor waterpark called Coco Key and decided to give it a try.  It was fabulous.  The little kids loved it—the big kids weren’t into it as much but I don’t know why since they had bigger waterslides for bigger kids (they said they were too scary…  WHAT???!!!!).

We left the waterpark at around 8 PM with some really tired little ones—they were worn out and we were anxious to get to the hotel room to get them in their pajamas and ready for bed.  Mom took Austin, Morgan, and Dalton to a movie that started at 10:10 while Lyndi and I stayed at the room and put the little ones to bed!

The next morning was sunny and the forecast called for clear skies and temperatures in the 80s so we headed to an outdoor waterpark—the Beach Waterpark.  We had a great time and all the kids seemed to have a great time.  I even got to ride some waterslides while Addi napped on a lawn chair in the shade.  That place was so big and there was so much to do!  Here are some pictures:

It was a nice break in routine and I am looking forward to going back again before the summer is over!
