Playing catch up…

Unfortunately with our fast-pased and busy lifestyle, I am always playing catch-up on my blog.  I do want to add some random pictures that I just didn’t have the time to devote an entire posting to!
Addison’s vocabulary is going strong.  She speaks in full sentences and her latest 4-syllable word is alligator.  The girl can say whatever she wants and watch what you say, because she WILL repeat it!
She has recently gone from calling me “momma” to “mommy”—she goes back and forth on that.  She refuses to call my mom “grandma” as my mom would like but instead she is “memaw.”  My dad would prefer her to call him “grandpa” but she insists that he is “papaw.”  My mother-in-law is “nana” but Addi calls her “nina.”  She definitely has a mind of her own!  It’s cute though and I think it is going to be representative of her personality!
She has a new obsession with zipping things.  She wants to zip and unzip her jacket and mine and anyone else that has one on.  She has even tried to unzip people’s flys!  I have a zipper pouch for my camera case and she loves to play with it and put her pacifier in it and say, “where’d paci go?” Then she will unzip it and say, “there she is!”  She’s very funny and that will keep her busy for a while!
She still LOVES to play with stickers and her “sticka book.”  She likes to paint and color and do lots of creative things—such as taking all of the spoons, forks out of the silverware tray and put it all back in.  That keeps her busy sometimes while I’m trying to cook or do stuff in the kitchen….  I just have to get creative sometimes!
We have had to find more things to do inside as the weather has started to turn cool.  She loves being outside so much so I am sad that summer is over!  I am hoping that all the time indoors will give me an opportunity to start working with her on things like colors and numbers and the alphabet!  She is such a little sponge so it will be fun to watch her learn!
We have been working a lot on manners.  She often has to be reminded of them but I think she is getting better.  When she wants something, we insist that she say please and she responds with “pease.”  She says “bless you” most of the time when someone sneezes.  She will say “thank you” when she is given something (most of the time after being reminded) but she is getting better!
She melts my heart daily.

Boyd's Orchard...

It’s always a fun treat to go to Boyd’s Orchard at the onset of fall.  This year, Addi was especially impressed with the hundreds of “punkins.”  She would go from one to the next saying “punkin, momma.” Lyndi and her kids met us there too so we got some great pictures of all of them playing.
In the back of the orchard, they have lots of fun things for the kids to do such as inflatables, slides, petting zoo, corn maze, playground, and hayrides.  The kids had a great time and we spent lots of time playing.
By the time we left, all of the kids were completely exhausted.  As a matter of fact, Addison was asleep in her carseat before we got out of the parking lot!  Austin was pretty tired too!

Labor Day Weekend 2011...

We packed up and headed to Nolin on Friday after work and made it down there at around 8:30 PM.  The forecast called for a scorching hot weekend and that it was!
It was great to see so many people from the family who came down and we were able to spend a lot of time in the water, in the boat, at the candy dock, and playing cards!
Addi was so excited to see GG (Mamaw) and was looking forward to seeing Ty Ty (Jackie’s dog).

Besides my Mamaw, we were the first group to arrive Friday night.  Shortly after our arrival, Monica, AJ, & Madison arrived and then Brent, Sara, and Hunter.  That night we played a lot of cards and I made my buffalo chicken dip and we started inhaling that!
Saturday morning, the Bowling Green crowd arrived for the day—Lindle & Diane, Paul, Shannon, Evan, & Elizabeth, Matt, Tiffany, Karson, Isaac, & Miles.  Jackie and Ty also came Saturday morning!
We went out on the boat during the day and Karson, Evan, and Elizabeth all got to ride the tube together.  We made a run to the candy dock so that the kids could get icees, popsicles, and candy.  Addi chose a sucker (of course) and was sticky from head to toe!
As usual, Addi loved swimming in the lake and the life jacket didn’t seem to bother her at all this time!

Saturday afternoon, Mom & Dad, Lyndi, Randy, Katie Belle, and Connor arrived.  We took 3 boats full of family out on the lake that evening for a special memorial.  We laid our Papaw Pogue to rest in Nolin Lake.  It was so appropriate because it was his most favorite place to be—and also the place where his life here on Earth ended.  It was a gorgeous night and a beautiful sunset—the atmosphere could not have been more perfect.  Matt read the 23rd Psalm and said a prayer and then Brent spread Papaw’s ashes into the water.  It was very special.  Everyone listed above was there for the special tribute to Papaw.

Sunday morning Kenton arrived.  We did more swimming also played corn hole, rode golf carts, and grilled out steaks and burgers.  Sunday evening it started storming so we stayed in and played cards!

We left around noon on Monday and headed towards home.  We did make a pit stop in E-town to visit Marcie and Darrin, my 2nd cousin, and see the beautiful house that they just built.  It was gorgeous.

It was a great weekend and so wonderful to spend some time with the family that I don’t see as often as I’d like!  I’m so thankful for the closeness of our family!
