Louisville Zoo....

We FINALLY made it to the zoo the last weekend in July.  We met my grandparents for breakfast at Frish's early that morning and we all went straight from there to the zoo.  We of course packed lots of snacks and drinks and sunscreen!  We had a great time!  It was so great that my grandparents spent the whole day with us.  I hope that when I'm 80+, I can still keep up like they did.  We were there from 10 until 5 and they never missed a beat!  We rode the train, the merry-go-round and I believe we saw every animal exhibit. The very last thing that we did was the splash park--which the kids LOVED.

It was the PERFECT day for the zoo!  We had barely made it out of the parking lot before Addi was asleep--and slept the whole way home!

Straight Hair!

One night as I was flat-ironing my hair, Addi asked me if I would make her hair straight.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my girl's blonde curls but I have often wondered what she would look like with straight hair so I told her that we would straighten it just for fun...  And....

As adorable as she is with straight hair (and don't you love the rhinestone earrings in the second picture), I just don't think she looks like my Addi without those curls!  Craig said that she looks like my mini-me with straight hair!  The funny thing is though that my hair is curly but no one EVER sees it that way because I ALWAYS straighten it!

She certainly looks older with straight hair--she's a beauty either way, but momma loves those curls!

Writing Letters..

We have been working on Addi's handwriting in preparation of her starting Little Elk's Preschool at the end of this month (sniff sniff).   She will be going to the 3-year old program on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 AM to noon.

I wanted to be sure that she was able to print her name before she started even though I know that most kids that age probaby won't be able to.  We have tried several times before and she will get upset when she can't make the letters correctly so I haven't pushed the issue knowing that she was still a little young.  But recently, I decided to try again and this time she did much better!

I can proudly announce that she can write the "ADDI" portion of her name!  It certainly is nowhere near perfect but she just turned 3 two months ago, so I think she is doing wonderful!

Swim Lessons...

We started Addi in swim lessons at the beginning of July through the YMCA.  It was 8 group lessons that were 30 minutes long.  There were usually around 5 of them in the class.

The first lesson was rough.  Addi did not want to try anything that Ms. Samantha, her instructor, wanted her to do!  I think it was because she didn't know anyone and is always skiddish around new people.  Each week got a little better though and by the end of the session, she was doing fabulous and also happened to be the teacher's pet and the little girl who volunteered to go first!

As a result, she is jumping off the side of the pool now--not minding if she goes underwater and will even put her head underwater on her own!  Her confidence has really grown!  We will definitely do swimming lessons again next summer but it was so exciting to see how much progress she made in such a short time!

Pool Days..

Today, we spent the day at Southland Pool with Katie Belle and Addi.  They had so much fun playing together that I just wanted to post a few pics!

First dentist appt...

Craig took Addi to her first dentist appt. today.  He was off work all week for shut-down and I would have liked to have gone but I figured that she would do better for him anyway!

He said that she did great and did everything that they asked her to do.  My brave little girl!  The dentist said that her teeth looked fantastic and to keep doing exactly what we were doing!

Afterwards, they came and picked me up at work and we all went to lunch together.
