Good times...

Whew!!  Another very busy but very fun weekend has come and gone!  It was my birthday on Friday, so after work, my whole family (Smith’s and Vahle’s) met at Cheddar’s for a birthday dinner!  We had a very good time—it’s always fun when we are all together.  It was great to see my brother since I hadn’t seen him since his birthday at the end of December.  Addi is always happy to see Uncle B!

These little signs were all over the house and on my steering wheel Friday morning--compliments of sweet Austin!
Funny note:  Friday morning, Addi woke up early (before the alarm clock went off), which is very unusual for her.  We have to wake her up VERY early though the week (6:10) and she never wants to get up!  Anyway, she was tossing and turning in the bed, and I said to her, “Addi, you need to be still and go back to sleep.”  Her reply to me was (in her sweet little voice), “Don’t be so bossy, mommy!”  LOL—she has heard that a time or two…  I just closed my eyes and went back to sleep and so did she!
Saturday, Craig had to work and so I took Austin to his play practice Saturday afternoon.  Before dropping him off, we stopped at White Castle to eat lunch.  This was Addi’s first experience with White Castle and she loved it—YIPEE!!  The tradition lives on!  I know most people aren’t fans of White Castle but my entire family loves it.  It all started with my grandparents and they are still big fans!  I was very proud that Addi will carry on our tradition of White Castle love—especially since it’s so healthy and all!!

Saturday night, I made some yummy potato/cheese soup and then the kids and I made Valentine’s cupcakes.  Addi helped to line the pan with the cupcake holders and Austin added the ingredients.  It’s fun baking together and letting her help!  When the cupcakes were iced, she put some red sprinkles on them and then I let her enjoy her creation.  She definitely enjoyed it—ALL OVER!  After that, it was straight to the bath tub.

Sampling the icing...  YUM!

Painting her chest for the UK game!

All clean!

Saturday night after Addi went to bed, Craig and I sat up to watch the UK game which didn’t start until 9.  It was a great game and we are so excited that our Wildcats are doing so well!!
Sunday morning, we had a great service at church.  I’ve been so proud of Addi that she has been going to class for like the last 4 weeks in a row.  The first couple of times, she went into the 3-year old class so that she could go with Katie.  But the last two weeks, she has gone into class by herself—the 2 year olds.  She should actually be in the nursery since she isn’t quite 2 but she won’t stay in there.  I really think she needs to be around older kids because I think she relates to them better since she is such a good little communicator.  She fits in just perfect in the 2-year old class.  They always have a little page to color with a memory verse on it.  She has done a great job at learning her memory verse which is, “Love God with all of your heart.”  The theme has been about love since Valentine’s Day is tomorrow!  I’m so proud of her!

Accessories are a must for church!
Unfortunately after church, Craig hit a concrete pole as we were pulling out of our parking spot.  It was right in his blind spot.  That kind of put a damper on our great morning at church but thankfully it wasn’t another car or a person even!  We will get it fixed—it was just frustrating!
OUCH!

Sunday afternoon, I went to a bridal shower for a dear friend who is like a part of our family.  She (Angela) is marrying a guy from New York.  We are excited that he is moving here instead of her moving there.  She’s waited a very long time for this so we are very happy for her!
It was a great weekend.  It just went by way too fast, of course.  I love having time at home with my family.  I’m so blessed!

LOVE that SWEET face!

Next weekend, we are going to Cincinnati to spend a day at an indoor water park.  I am excited and know that the kids will have a blast!

21 Months Old...

My little baby is 21 months old today.  It's so hard to believe!

Coloring Lotso Huggin' Bear (from Toy Story 3)

She says Lotso is "a mean ole guy."  LOL
She is growing and changing so fast.  She continues to amaze all of us with her vocabulary.  She constantly surprises me with new words that I had no clue that she knew and could say, such as octopus, dinosaur, and crocodile!!  We never have any trouble communicating with her because she can say whatever she wants.  It's so nice that she is able to tell us what she wants and needs!

She is quite a little drama queen too.  She wants you to "kiss it" if anything hurts.  She is very active so she has lots of boo-boos and they all need to be kissed--multiple times.

She is wearing mainly 24 month and 2T clothes and a size 6 shoe.  She is still wearing size 4 diapers.  She is still quite a picky eater and doesn't like to try new stuff.  I guess she gets that honest, so I can't complain!  She still loves fruit and drinks a lot of milk.  Her favorite snacks are fruit snacks, the gummy snacks that are fruit-flavored.  They probably aren't terribly healthy but she loves them so I give them to her in moderation and if she has eaten dinner well.

She has finally cut one of her incisors.  She has had a rough time with it.  I think they are all trying to come in at about the same time.  But one has finally made its debut, so her tooth count is now up to 11!

She loves the movie Toy Story 3 and that is really the only thing on TV that keeps her attention.  We turn it on in the car quite a bit so that she is focussed on that instead of telling us that "she's stuck" (in her car seat).  She doesn't like to be restrained!

She loves taking a bath and especially if I put bubbles in her bath water.  She plays with her washable markers and loves for us to color her skin and nails with the markers.

She also LOVES to have her finger nails and toe nails painted.  It's quite a chore to keep her still long enouth to get them  painted and dried!  Usually mommy paints them and daddy starts blowing right away!  I'm sure we are really comical!  The lengths you go to for beauty, right?  Currently her toe nails are blue and her finger nails are purple.  I just let her pick...  Someday we will have a conversation about coordinating the two!!  :)

She plays with her kitchen a lot and is all the time bringing me "coffee."  I'll pretend to drink my coffee and she'll ask me if I want some more and will continue to fill my cup.  It's so sweet.  I'll tell her that I love her coffee and will ask her how she makes it to which her reply is "good."  :)  She definitely makes it good--actually her coffee is the BEST.

She also loves her babies and takes good care of them.  We have Holly, Molly, Suzie, Sally, Emma, Addi, and Mary.  She also has a stuffed dog that she named Pinky Pie that she loves!  She's a sweet girl and I love that she is so nurturing to her babies!

Happy 21 months Addi.  I love you so much!

January Re-cap

Life is so busy and goes too fast!  I can't believe it's February already!  I try so hard to keep up with this blog and picture-taking, but I seem to be falling short!!  I'm not sure why with working full-time, building a house, and trying to pack up the house.  In addition to all of that, Austin is practicing for a play at the Lexington Children's Theatre about 4 nights a week.  Oh yeah, and then there is Addi--who is busy, busy, busy...

Just to re-cap a little of the month of January, I am going to use pictures with captions:

X-Ray for Addi

We had to take Addi to the doctor yesterday to have her foot x-rayed!  While she was with mom, she decided she was going to climb up in a barstool where Katie Belle was.  Mom was telling her to get down and that she would help her up and before mom could get to her, the barstool fell over and Addi fell and the barstool landed on her foot!  Thankfully, the x-ray showed no broken bones but she wouldn't put any weight on her foot for the rest of the day and didn't start putting weight on it again until today.  She is back to her busy, active self though!  She is a VERY active little girl and loves to climb so this probably won't be the last x-ray she will ever have to have!  Here are a few pictures of our little monkey!

Looks so grown up!
