Well the day I had been dreading came and went without a hitch! Addi and Connor started at Little Elks Preschool on Friday. I adjusted my work schedule so that I could take her and pick her up on the first day. She was excited but a little unsure I think. I had taken her the day before to meet her teachers, Ms. Kim and Ms. Anne. They were very sweet and encouraging and I could tell from meeting them that the kids would be in wonderful care. Here are pictures I took before taking her on the first day:
I shed quite a few tears as I walked away from the classroom and to my car. My face was wet for most of my drive to work but being at work while she was at school was a needed distraction. The hours passed quickly and I was so excited to leave and pick her up to see how her day had gone. She was all smiles as Ms. K walked her to my car in the pick-up line. She told me that she had had a good day and that she had gotten mail in her mailbox at school and it was all in her backpack. I looked in her backpack to find several papers they had done including a tracing of her handprint with a heart in the middle--it was called the kissing hand. She also had a sweet note from Ms. Kim saying that she had had a great first day and had played quietly and listened during story time.
After Lyndi and I picked up our big preschoolers, we met mom at McDonald's for lunch where the kids filled us in on the rest of their day! From there, mom took them home and Lyndi and I went to work--relieved that our babies had survived the first day!
