Craig had a week off in July for shut-down so I took a few days and we had a little "stay-cation." It was nice to just be at home and do things close by. Randy had the day off too so we decided to take all the kids to Jacobson Park for a day of fishing, paddle-boating, picnicking, and playing. It was a beautiful day and we had a blast. We picked up Zaxby's on the way and had a nice picnic lunch and then hit the playground, fed the ducks, did some fishing, and ended with paddle-boating. It was a full (4 hour) day!
We normally go to Nolin Lake for the 4th but it seemed like everyone in our family was either moving that weekend or had a newborn so it didn't really work out for anyone to go. Thankfully, James and Lisa hooked us up to tickets to RJ Corman's fireworks show which had tons of stuff for the kids to do--inflatables, petting zoo, games along with cotton candy, icees--all the ingredients for a great night. And of course, wonderful fireworks. In the past, we have headed home before fireworks started because it's so late and the fireworks are so loud that they scared the kids. This year, we stayed and the kids LOVED them. As much as I hate to see them grow up, we get to have so much fun!
The next night we went to the Cissell's for a 4th of July party and another fabulous fireworks show.
